Denmark here we come

We are in the middle of packing up to go to Denmark on our German Young People's Summer Camp until 10 August so I will be out of blogworld for a couple of week's. Our role is 'house parent', basically what we did last year, so it should be lots of fun. Of course, going to Denmark is a bit of a bonus. We hadn't planned to travel there.

So, I will tell you all about it when we come back.

Take care my dear family and friends.

Karen and Eli

Do I look the part?

l-r Gaynor, Eli, Heidi, Karen and ? (ops, forgotten her name!)

With my lovely friend Christine (she's Swiss)

These photo's were taken at morning tea at Centrepoint. Karen comes from Scotland and has only been in Basel a few months. She brings 9 mth old Eli into the morning tea and we love this gorgeous little girl.

Ballenberg, Switzerland

The hills are alive with the sound of music ! ! !

We were taken to Ballenberg, near Interlarken in Switzerland by Claudia and Jose Lois last week. There is a traditional Swiss village in Ballenberg and we spent the day looking around and having a wonderful time together.

BASEL TATTOO

Roger and I went to the Basel Tattoo last night. We were able to take Francois with us because of the extra ticket. The night was a run through for all the Bands, hence free tickets for people with any involvement to do with the Tattoo and also for people living around the area (as a thank you for putting up with the noise!).

The evening began at 9.00pm with a canon blast! What a shock. We had a fabulous night and chose excellent seats in the front row. We actually met other with 2 other couples, so it was lots of fun sharing the evening together.

I did enjoy the Scottish bagpipes and the dancers. There were certainly a lot of them.

The only down side was that we just missed our train (a regular occurance) so had to wait 50 minutes for the last train of the day. Small price to pay for a fabulous evening.

GUESS WHAT ? ? ?

You'll never guess!

A friend came up to me at Centrepoint today and asked if I wanted free tickets to the Basel Tattoo! Now you have to believe me when I tell you it is virtually impossible to get tickets for the Basel Tattoo after about March of the year it is performed (July 12 - 19). And only this week I throw the brochure away thinking to myself "I am just going to have to wait till next year"!!

Whilst in Basel yesterday I heard one of the Brass Bands performing in the Marktplatz and it was truly amazing. I just can't believe this is happening. Maybe you're not into Brass Bands, but if you are, here's a snippet for you to listen to!
