BASEL TATTOO

Roger and I went to the Basel Tattoo last night. We were able to take Francois with us because of the extra ticket. The night was a run through for all the Bands, hence free tickets for people with any involvement to do with the Tattoo and also for people living around the area (as a thank you for putting up with the noise!).

The evening began at 9.00pm with a canon blast! What a shock. We had a fabulous night and chose excellent seats in the front row. We actually met other with 2 other couples, so it was lots of fun sharing the evening together.

I did enjoy the Scottish bagpipes and the dancers. There were certainly a lot of them.

The only down side was that we just missed our train (a regular occurance) so had to wait 50 minutes for the last train of the day. Small price to pay for a fabulous evening.

when I saw tattoo -- I was a bit worried .. ha !

I would have had an anxiety attack waiting for the last train, but perhaps the wonderful evening would have trumped any of that.

Hey ! we were there tooooo! for the dress rehearsal on Monday night. We were sitting on the long side facing the barracks. The really neat thing for us was that the Colonial Williamsburg (from VA)Fife and Drum Corps was there. That is Paul's old Corps. He was a fifer way back when and now his best friends are the drum major and the director...so we got to see and visit with old friends.Paul went to help with photos and filming during the week. We had tickets for the Friday night late performance and got to take the kids..they loved it.

So glad you got to experience this wonderful evening...!!!! Have fun up North!
